World
Luminex Plant Nursery, a large-scale horticultural facility based in Sri Lanka’s Western Province, is positioning itself as a key global supplier in the fight against desertification and climate change through the export of premium, resilient shade trees.
Leveraging Sri Lanka’s rich biodiversity, Luminex combines sustainable propagation techniques with expert agronomy to cultivate trees specifically engineered to thrive in harsh climates, with a dedicated focus on meeting the demanding environmental conditions of the Middle East.
“We are more than just a nursery; we are a solution provider,” said a company spokesperson. “Our mission is to deliver trees that not only survive but flourish, contributing vital greenery to landscapes and directly supporting global carbon sequestration efforts.”
The company’s modern, eco-friendly facility boasts an annual production capacity of 1.2 million trees. Each plant is nurtured under strict internationally certified phytosanitary standards, ensuring health, quality, and compliance for project developers and government initiatives worldwide.
Underpinning its operations is an ambitious growth strategy. Luminex has announced a target to export 10,000 trees monthly within its first year of operation, with plans to double this volume each subsequent year. This expansion is designed to meet the rapidly growing international demand for high-quality, climateappropriate greenery
